Creating a textured background

Hello,

I'm Leila here, to show you one of my favorite techniques; Creating a textured background.

I think it's a cool effect on our projects and we can have a lot of fun in the process of playing with paints and brushes.

It's a simple tutorial, I hope you enjoy and have fun!

Let's go...

1-First separate the materials:
  •  1 sheet scrapbooking paper
  • 1 sheet of an old book
  • brush
  • acrylic paint
  • spray ink (like Glimmer Mist)
  • modeling paste or acrylic resin
  • spatula or old credit card
  • manuscript stamp
  • black Stazon ink
note: I used Brazilian brands, but I'm sure you can find similar substitutions in your country.

2- Now let's spread the modeling paste on the scrap paper:

3-When finished the paper should look like this:

4- Tear small pieces of  book paper and place them randomly on the page; no glue needed.

5- Then spread the modeling paste over them:

6- With a brush spread the acrylic paint at various points of the page, wherever you like it!

7- Now, use your glimmer mist:

8- Load the manuscript stamp with Staz On ink,  and apply where you like it. Observe the effect...

9-  Now leave it to dry and then it's ready to decorate!

Here's my finished page :

And here are other examples with texture backgrounds...

I hope you like and enjoy it!

xoxo

Leila
