Gelato Tutorial by Laura

Hi there everyone!  Practical Scrapper Laura here, with a fun, easy tutorial using gelatos
and other mixed media goodies!

If you are intimidated by mixed media, gelatos, paints....don't be!  You are missing out on
a world world of awesome crafting possibilities!  I'll be taking you through step by step,
how I created this tag:

First up....the gelatos....you take the blank tag (I used Prima tags, but a manilla tag of any kind is good)
and scribble color in coordinating colors....yep, just like crayons:

Then you just buff it in....I use my finger.....but you can also use a dry sponge.  It will look like this:

You continue like that until the entire tag is finished:

Next, I like to soften and blend a little more, so I take a damp paper towel and dab it on the
gelato background....because they react with water, some comes off and it leaves a soft
feathery pattern on the background like this:

Next up....use a paint dauber (or a sponge with some paint) to dab on a pattern with a fun
stencil, I used this crackle stencil from Prima:

Next step....add some stamped images....more Prima here, and a Tim Holtz sentiment....
I like to use Distress Ink for a softer look (the swirls) and Memento Ink for the darker:

To finish it....final touches are up to you....I used some fussy cut stamped and inked flowers,
a little bling, ribbon and lace, and a Prima Doll stamp that I paper pieced together.  Here's
a close up of some of details:

So, are you inspired to have some mixed media fun?  C'mon and dive in....ink, paint,
gelatos, stencils, stamps....so many options, and remember....the possibilities begin
with the courage to imagine!! ;)

PS....feel free to stop by my blog for specific details on products used!
