Now head on over to Jennifer's blog for your first stop!

On Trend- Bokeh

The Bokeh effect is a fairly hot trend right now in the scrapbooking world, showing up largely in patterned papers ( in circles as well as stars, hearts and hexagons). Knowing how to achieve bokeh in your photographs is one thing...figuring out how to correctly pronounce it may be another all together. I found this informative blog post by photographer Nicholas Jones if you care to know if it should rhyme with Mocha or Okay.
Just for the record, I'm still torn- good thing it doesn't matter how it sounds when it comes to creating with it.
Check out these projects:

Practical Scrapper Erin used photos featuring Bokeh, as well as creating a bokeh effect on her paper using distress stains and large irredecsent sequins.

Practical Scrapper Majken Pullin created a bokeh effect using cut-out circles, ink spritzing, and vellum.

Practical Scrapper Wendi Robinson used bokeh patterned paper on her layout

April Art Journaling

Finally Spring has sprung, or is if you are living in a more northern climate like me, it is currently "springing". To celebrate, our journaling prompt this month was from Poet Robert Graves:

"The child alone a poet is; Spring and fairyland are his. Truth and reason show but dim, and all's poetry with him."

Practical Scrapper Bobbi Smith designed this art journal with scrapbook paper, stamps, printouts, rub-ons and paint!

Practical Scrapper Erin Built her page using mainly ink sprays, glimmer mists,  stamps, and watercolour pens.

It's fun to see how the same quote can be interpreted with different media and style, even if the imagery and symbols are similar.

If you've enjoyed our Art Journaling feature, and would be interested in seeing more about art journaling, please let me know by leaving a comment on this post.

Frugal Finds: Now You See Me...Now You Don't

This month I gave the ladies the challenge using anything their hearts desire,  BUT the trick was to hide it, mask, it, transform it! I think you'll all be surprised just what you can do with some of these things...

Now you see me:

 Now you don't:
Practical Scrapper Lanette used everyday plastic shopping bags to create the truffula trees on her canvas. If you would like to see how she did it hop on over to her blog to see the details.

Practical Scrapper Laura used a magnet board display saved from heading to the trash at a local store and also some mini flair buttons that were sitting around to create a little "now you see me, now you don't" magic, to make this magnet board set.  Details on her blog.

Now you see me...
Now you see me...

Now you don't...
Untitled

Practical Scrapper Heather Sweet used the oh, so popular technique:  melting perler beads in the oven to make her own "enamel dots."  So many "enamel" dots in so many colors!  She used these to embellish some journaling cards she made for a friend's baby album.

Now you see me...

Now you don't....

Practical Scrapper Kerri altered this wok that she burnt her dinner in... so instead of throwing it away she repurposed it for a gift for a friend who loves snowmen all year round (Sorry about the bad picture- forgot to take a better one before I gave it to the friend).
