1O Things You Can Do with: Chipboard

Chipboard is a fun and diverse embellishment to use on layouts and cards.  Today we explore ten different ways you can use chipboard...some of these will really blow you away!

1. Use the chipboard base on your layouts

Practical Scrapper Ann used the chipboard frame left over from using the chipboard hearts as a base for her layout, layering scraps of patterned paper under the hearts.

2. Wrap twine around your chipboard 

Practical Scrapper Christa used the chipboard circle as a base and wrapped Twinery twine around it to create the base of her sunshine element.

3. Cover it with nail varnish

Practical Scrapper Caz Likes to use chipboard on cards, for this one she covered in with nail varnish and then glitter

4. Use it to mat your photo

Practical Scrapper Brenda took the chipboard backing from a package of buttons, covered it with paper, and used it behind her photo.  She also used blue and white mists to add color to a chipboard border strip.

5. Add patterned paper to create a unique embellishment

Practical Scrapper Jayma added patterned paper to a plain white chipboard star to create her own embellishment.

6. Use miscellaneous pieces to create a banner

7. Use puzzle pieces as an embellishment

Practical Scrapper Karen used puzzle pieces as chipboard embellishments which were then inked on the backside with distress inks and stamped. Puzzles are a super cheap embellishment to pick up at a yard sale, charity shop, or the toy aisle of any discount store. 

8. Use chipboard as a mask

Practical Scrapper Alison used chipboard letters as a mask to create this negative title image. Simply lay down your letters (use a little bit of repositionable adhesive), spray liberally with mist, remove and sit back to admire your handiwork. To make them stand out even more, outline the letters with a white gel marker.

9. Stamp on your chipboard and emboss it

Practical Scrapper Danielle used a chipboard bird to add a bit of detail to her layout. She stamped the bird with some Versamark, then sprinkled Zing Embossing Power - Gold Glitter, then heated it up with her embossing gun.

1O. Cover chipboard with microbeads

Practical Scrapper Liz Chidester created this card. She painted the chipboard letters black and then covered them with black micro beads for a fun texture.
