11 Things you can do with: A Die Cutting Machine

Electronic Die cutting machines have been around for quite some time now, but seem to be making  a leap in popularity with scrapbookers and cardmakers who are discovering that they are great for more than just cutting alphabets and simple embellishments. Part of the reason for that popularity are a greater selection of machines, availability of digital files online for reasonable prices, and with many machines, the ability to customize designs to really fit individual need. Our designers are offering up just a few ideas on what you can do with your electronic cutter.

1. Create a Title
Practical Scrapper Mary Pat used the Silhouette to create a title using an image from the Silhouette store.

2.Combine with other elements.
Practical Scrapper Liz cut the owl from her Cricut and added more embellishments like rhinestones, flowers and wire to really let the image come alive.

3.Get krafty.
Cut your own embellishments using kraft cardstock like Practical Scrapper Erin for a trendy addition to any layout. ( Cricut Expression)

4. Customize your electronics.
Practical Scrapper Kenya used her Silhouette Cameo to cut the frame and her name out of heat transfer vinyl. Project inspired by Eliott.

 5. Use the negative shapes.
Practical Scrapper Erin used the large doillie that she cut from glitter cardstock as a template to glue down all the inside cuts. She removed the doillie, and was left with the large medallion shape.

6. Frame It.
Practical Scrapper Leslii used her Cricut Expression and Stretch Your Imagination Cartridge to cut out the frame for this silly photo.
7. Alter an Acrylic Cup
Practical Scrapper Kenya used her Hello Kitty Cricut cartridge and vinyl to make this cute little image for the acrylic cup.

8. Make a 3-D projectPractical Scrapper Krissy Clark McKee uses her Silhouette Cameo to make 3-D projects such as this this Shadow Box, which is made entirely of paper (cutting files by Lori Whitlock).

9. Put holes in it.
Practical Scrapper Audrey Yeager used SCAL2 software to create these circle burst patterns which she used as a focal point in the background of her layout.

10. Make a Banner
Practical Scrapper Wendi Robinson used her Cricut to create a banner for her daughter's room. Cutting out alphas, a cupcake, and crown, to make it extra girlie.

11.Give your borders punches a rest.
Practical Scrapper Brenda used her Cricut to make the Christmas tree border for this card.
