Love Mail!

Every year on the 14th of February, Valentine's Day is celebrated world-wide by buying flowers, candy, cards, and other gifts for the ones we love. Children celebrate by share "Valentines" with their classmates in school and even creating Valentine mailboxes for their friends to drop their cards in. With the holiday just a little over two weeks away, we thought we'd share some mailboxes that say, "I Love You" in an extra special way.

We have three great ways that you can create your own little mailbox that you call fill with candy, treat, gifts to send to that special someone and we have some even better samples of how they were done.


Hand Cutting
First up, we have this great little pattern that is available from Better Homes and Garden that you can print out and enlarge to the size you want just like I did in this one below. Now, this is the most time consuming of the three, but all the work is worth it when you see just how adorable they come out!

Cricut Users Version
Got a Cricut that you use either Design Studio, SCAL, or a Gypsy with? Great you will be set with all ready to go to create this next one. I have to share with you this blog by Denise Hill ( one of my new favorite blogs to get SVG's from) called Paper Pastime. Denise has created this wonderful SVG that I cut with my SCAL program on my Cricut -- she has also created Gypsy and Design Studio files that are available here to download.




Time Saver Method

So, you don't have time to cut one by hand or you aren't able to cut one of the files we've given you to use. What do you do? But a mailbox and alter like one of three example we have for you below.

Here Erin purchased this ready made mailbox at Walmart last year. She wasn't crazy about the colors, so she covered it with this Valentine's themed paper by Fancy Pants. The best part are the LED's on the top that light up when the door is opened. She simply marked the paper where the lights were, and put in red eyelets to frame them before gluing the paper down.




Brenda bought this metal 3" x 6" mailbox at Hobby Lobby. She base coated it with two coats of gesso, then covered the inside and outside with some patterned paper. She added some heart diecuts and ribbon, and then slipped a little gift bag of candy inside.


Aymee Gandy found these little tin mailboxes at The Dollar Spot when you walk in Target. They had white, pink, and red. She chose to purchase one in her favorite color...pink!!!! S decorated my mailbox with K & Co. Kazoo paper and embosses the the blue paper with Swiss Dots embossing folder.


This Valentine's Day send some "Love Mail" and create one of your own Valentine mailboxes to share as that perfect gift or as a mailbox for your kids to put their school valentines in...it says "I Love You" in that special way letting the person you love most know you put a little extra TLC into in those gifts this year!
