Frugal Finds: Cozy Cotton Projects

Christine, Erin, and I have been bringing you Frugal Find features fora few months now - since we've had so much fun we decided to bring in one of those objects into our anniversary week.  It's a looser interpretation but today we celebrate our 2 year anniversary by sharing a challenge that we presented to all of our designers.  Cotton is often associated with a 2 year wedding anniversary symbolizing that cotton is "cozy" and the couple is comfortable with each other by now.  We thought it'd be fun see what we could do with cotton or cotton based items such as denim, canvas, other fabrics, gauze, and plain old cotton balls.  As you'll see from the examples, our designers are definitely comfy, cozy using cotton...

Practical Scrapper Kerri used "cotton" gauze from her medical kit under her bathroom sink to create her large flower.  She cut the gauze in half, inked with Tim Holtz vintage photo distressing ink, and misted with Sugar Maple Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.

Practical Scrapper Christine created this card using cotton pads.  She cut them into strips and used them to make her border.  She also used some Design Your Own stickers from Momenta on this.

Practical Scrapper Brenda B used gingham fabric as the photo mat and for a bow on this page, and also used some crocheted cotton lace trim.

Practical Scrapper Jessica used embroidered letters cut from her daughter's old cotton t-shirt, along with some cotton My Mind's Eye baker's twine.

Practical Scrapper Kylie used denim as trim under her photo as her cotton item for this layout.

Practical Scrapper Carolina  used cotton canvas as the base for this project.

Practical Scrapper Corinna added a cotton ball directly to her photo on the "tail" of her daughter in the photograph.

Practical Scrapper Kerri created this altered canvas (canvas made of cotton) that she painted with black acrylic paint and glimmer misted like crazy on (Tatter Angels Graphite and Marshmallow).
She also used Bo Bunny Whoo-ligans Collection that included some cotton fabric (black and white check) that she created her bow with.

Practical Scrapper Aymee created this stair step project which she used cotton on the stairs for a "snow" effect.

Practical Scrapper Fern used a cotton ball for the wool on her ewe.

Practical Scrapper Christine used circular cotton pads to create her layered scallops.  They already had the cool dot embossing (can you call it that on cotton :))  She used more Design Your Own stickers from Momenta.

Don't forget, blog hop begins tomorrow at 12:01am EST.  Make sure you stop by to join in the fun!  Christine has added the next two items to the online recipe contest, make sure to check out that post too!

I am amazed at how the gauze is used to make a flower! That's very creative and the design with sheep made of cotton is definitely cute! In scrapbooking you don't need to buy all the embellishments, you just have to be creative, the perfect supply may just be at the corner of your room! Great design!
