Last month our design team featured coffee as a frugal finds design element. I had never thought to use coffee filters on my paper crafting projects but their post really inspired me to think of these everyday items just as I thought of my other design elements. I was at my local Creative Reuse center (a shop that sells donated new and used art supplies) and found a big bag of filters for 50 cents! Perfect! The dollar store had a foam wreath and I had pins and any other creative supplies I might need at home.
I simply folded the filters in half like this:
I began layering them on the wreath and pining them in place on the inside of the wreath. The pins get covered by the next coffee filter as you move along the wreath.
I played with the layering and placement a little bit until I was happy with how it was coming out.
After the whole wreath was covered I embellished it with a rainbow of spring colored flowers and a pennant banner that says "Welcome Spring"
The soft colors and the softness of the filters really work nicely together!
Such a happy greeting each time I enter the house!
Shhhh! Don't tell her! It's a surprise!
Come over to my blog to see some more of this project!
Have fun using coffee filters and other unconventional items in your scrapbooks and craft projects.
It's unexpected and super fun!
