Ten Things Tuesday:Watercolors

Here are ten + 1 beautiful ways to use watercolors They each involve the use of water colors + 1 product or technique. Peruse these delightful projects to be inspired and then some!!!

1.Photo Mat

Practical Scrapper Alison used Gelatos and water to create the watercolour effect on the back ground photo matte. She drew lines across the paper with gelatos in similar colours to the sunset in the photograph and then blended them using a paint brush and water.

2.Acrylic Stamps

Practical Scrapper Lee-Anne used some acrylic stamps, colored them with Gelatos, misted it with water and stamped to create the bottom flowers. She also used Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mists on the diecut flowers and "painted" the flowers with a water brush to also give a watercolor effect.

3.Canvas

Practical Scrapper Lanette used water colors & gelatos to add color to her canvas.

4.Watercolor Paper

Practical Scrapper Jenn C used stazon ink when she stamped on watercolor paper. She then used her blender pen and ink to color the stamped image and surrounding area.

5.Fussy Cutting

Practical Scrapper Charity fussy-cut butterflies from patterned paper then painted them with Rose Art water colors before sewing them to this card. Check her blog for sketch details.

6. Masking Fluid

Practical Scrapper Charissa the heart background piece by tracing a Cameo cut with a sharpie maker onto her fabric piece. Then she painted the hearts with masking fluid before spraying the fabric with water and coloring with watercolor. Once dry, she rubbed away the masking fluid to reveal the white hearts underneath.

7.Ombre Effect

Practical Scrapper Alison used 3 different shades of green mist and some water to make the ombre back ground on this layout. To get this same effect spray a bit of your chosen mist colours into a small container then dilute it with water in approximately a 1:1 ratio. Then just paint on your new water colours with a brush blending well to avoid lines in between each colour.

8.Paper Flowers

Practical Scrapper Linda colored the background of the layout as well as the paper flowers with watercolor.

9.Fabric

Practical Scrapper Karen stamped directly to fabric with permanent ink and then used pearlized watercolors to shade the flowers & leaves and add some random splatters.

10.Stamp Over the Top

Practical Scrapper Sarah created this blue, abstract background by dropping concentrated, liquid watercolor paints onto a plastic sheet. Then she coated the paint with water and used a pin to stir the colors together. When she reached a pattern she liked, she pressed the corners of her white card stock into the mixture. After it had dried, she used regular black ink and stamps over the top.

And for our bonus round:

Guest Designer Stephanie water colored the banner with pencils and water colored on top of texture paste for the blue strip.

What is your Watercolor + 1 story? We'd love to see it. Post it on our facebook page with a blog link so we can all ohh and aww!
