**INK SMEAR TIP: If you accidentally smear a little portion of your black in on a Halloween card, just smear all of the black ink!  It makes for a fun element to your card!**

 

I was so excited to make these cards!  Halloween only comes once a year and lots of times we only make one layout per year.  So I have a bag full of Halloween goodies, packaged together so that I would remember to use them when it was time again!  So glad it's time again!  Time to make some cards!

Thirteen Things You Can Do with Washi Tape

There's almost nothing I love more than washi tape.  It's hard to believe that two years ago it was just barely emerging in the industry.  Always on the lookout for fresh ideas on how to use it, our ten things team is back today with some more ideas for you!

Practical Scrapper Charity used the June sketch for this layout and embossed the camera image on top of washi tape.

Practical Scrapper Charissa used washi tape to create a background square to build her layout on top of.

Practical Scrapper Linda made banners using four different washi tapes.

Practical Scrapper Lee-Anne Thornton made rosettes with washi tape.  

Practical Scrapper Karen used washi tape on her beach themed shaker card to seal the edges in order to create a pocket to enclose confetti and couldn’t resist adding a string of mini bunting flags.

Practical Scrapper Wendy used rubber bands to pleat the washi tape ruffles she used to fill the background of this card. You can see a closeup and a tutorial on her blog.

Practical Scrapper Stephanie used washi tape for both the her banners and for her punched flower (over white cardstock).

Practical Scrapper Kelly Jean adhered strips of washi tape on a piece of cardstock and then die cut the word 'truly' for her card.

Practical Scrapper Lisa Peeples covered tiles with bright colored washi tape to make fun coasters for her scrap room. After adhering the different strips of tape to the coasters she used modge podge to seal the tape and make them water resistant.

Practical Scrapper Deborah Johnson used a variety of washi tapes to create these adorable gift tags.  She used stickers, stamps and almost every one of her washi tapes.  Check out her blog for more samples and close up shots.

Hi Everyone!  Practical Scrapper Kim here.  I know that we have talked about washi tape on the blog before but I thought I would come to you today with a few cards I've made using washi tape AND a few other ideas that are beyond the craft room!  Washi tape is so cute and SO MUCH FUN!

 

First up I have a card for you that you can see in the May 2013 publication of CARDS magazine!  My first card ever to be published!  YAY!

Up close detail on the embellishments!

This is a Mother's Day card that I created.  I just love putting different colors and patterns together and it's SO easy when you use washi tape!

Here is another Mother's Day card.  Washi tape is a great way to jazz up a tag!

Washi tape also makes a great back drop to a big focal image!  You can see another example of this on my blog!

10 Things you can do with: Washi Tape

So you caved and bought a roll (or two or three). You brought it home and now it's sitting in your stash. What's a girl to do with washi tape anyway?

Here are ten ideas to get you started: 

1. Coordinate it with your embellishments

Practical Scrapper Jenny embellished her washi tape with coordinating buttons. 

2. Make custom embellishments

Practical Scrapper Charity wrapped white cardstock with washi tape then used Cuttlebug Dies to cut the cardstock into various sized squares.

3. Frame a layout

Practical Scrapper Cathy used various designs of Washi Tape to frame her page.

4.  Create a scene

Practical Scrapper Erin used washi tape to make the sun rays, and the grass in her layout.

5. Make die cuts from it

Practical Scrapper Julie used washi tapes to alter a paper clip, to make roses, butterflies and a bird house using her Cuttlebug.

6. Make a chevron

Practical Scrapper Audrey Yeager folded her washi tape to create the large zig zag pattern shown on this page.    She has created a tutorial for this technique HERE.

7. Make coordinating flowers

Practical Scrapper Alison used 3 different washi tapes to make the large flower embellishment on her layout. She then covered scraps of card stock with more of the same washi tapes and used her punches to create the additional embellishments.

8. Create a background pattern with it

Practical Scrapper Christa used several coordinating washi tape lengths to create a mat for her photo and a base for her design. She tore the edges for visual texture too.

 

9. Make a rosette

Practical Scrapper Karen used washi tape to make rosette embellishments.

 10.Make a title

Practical Scrapper  Kimberly Congdon used her washi Tape to create a bold title.
