Using Die Cut Papers on your Layouts

I love Die Cut Papers and can hardly resist buying them up when I find them! In fact it is probably the single paper crafting item that I have a hard time passing up! But sometimes because they are so ready to use, I get stumped on different ways to use them. Today we're going to check out submissions that use Die Cut Papers. Some use them in unique ways, and others are just plain fun to look at. The variety is impressive!

Christine used a pencil die cut paper from Creative Imaginations but didn't like the background color with her pictures. She changed it to black, added some lines to look like handwriting paper, and made the entire layout work better for her.

Erin used the extra space on her die cut to do her journaling.

On this layout Christine cut her scalloped circle off, placing part of it in one corner and a smaller chunk of it katty corner to it.

Amelie filled in her die cut heart with patchwork and used a lace border on the outside of it.

Tiffany Call gives us an example of not using the entire die cut by aligning it with one side.

Connie Mercer kept her die cut paper centered, but only used half of it breaking the layout up and allowing room for her title and journaling.

Erin used glimmer mist on her plain die cut to add interest to it and provide a subtle background for her coordinating embellishments.

Monique Fox offset her diecut behind the pictures making it more of an embellishment than a focus of the layout.

Monique Fox used her die cut as a frame for her photograph and embellishments.

Liz Chidester used a dark circle in the middle of her patterned die cut, slowing the pattern down and making sure the eyes are drawn in to the photograph.

Next week's layout feature is going to focus on the topic of adoption. We would love to see a layout from you about adopting a child, a pet, or even a special cause. If you haven't already submitted one to us, you've got most of the week to create something beautiful to share and we look forward to seeing it! Make sure to check out the updated Current Calls section too -December projects are coming up quick! Send your layouts to practicalscrapperslayouts@gmail.com
