Misting with Caz and a give away

Hey ladies, its Caz here and i just want to thank you all for joining me today. For my post i have chose to talk to you about misting, i LOVE it and i just think it adds so much to a page. The reason i thought i would do this post about misting is that so many people are scared to try it but it is so so easy to do.

First of all i would love to share with you my mist collection. I have a wonderful friend who has an equally wonderful husband who was nice enough to build this awesome mist holder so that i can have my mists all in front of me at all times, i love how handy they are and that i do not have to go through them all to pick a colour.
Isn't it fabulous, I love it so much :)

Back when i first tried to mist i hated it, my page always warped or was super wet and it just didn't look nice, Then Studio Calico brought out Mister Huey's and wow they are amazing, they have a lesser water content so they dry super fast and also the page does not seem to warp like the previous brands i tried, so if you are having the same issues i did then honestly go try out the Mister Huey's.

Remember before you mist you should put your layout inside a box or take it outside otherwise you will have a mess LOL I use an old Studio Calico kit box to do this as its free and free is good right, more money to spend on supplies. I just leave all my masks in the bottom of the box (far to lazy to have them organized though i have something in mind to do this)

Here is my box, beautiful huh!!

Here are a few ways to use mists

1. spray - You can do one colour or maybe mix lots of colours, you can see that there is heavier spray in some places, this is where i misted up close whereas the thinner coverage is from holding the mist about 12 inches from paper
2. splatter - I find i do this on about 99% of my layouts, it is great for filling in some white space but not over crowding if you know what i mean? To do this you just give the bottle a shake then remove the lid, i then just use my index finger to tap it, I really LOVE this effect.
3. masks - I use masks all the time, i make my own from my punches or my cameo but the ones i use the most are my Studio Calico masks, they are fabulous. One of the things i like to do is once it is dry i will sew around the outline to help it pop of the page, though if you are not a sewer then faux stitching is also great and so so easy.

Mists are also fabulous for using with wood veneer,  ribbons, doilies, chipboard and they work really well on the new Heidi Swapp Colour Magic papers and embellishments , just so many different options.

I thought i would leave you with a couple of my layouts that i have misted on, thanks for joining me for my first post on the blog.

So to say thanks for joining me here on my first blog post i thought it would be nice to have a give away, don't you agree?? Well the lovely ladies over at Studio Calico have given me some silver mist and beautiful exclusive hexagon thickers for one lucky lady to own. All you have to do is like us on our Face book page and leave a comment on this post telling us what you love to do with your mist. I would also really appreciate it if you could maybe go say thanks to Studio Calico over on their Face book page for just being so amazing

A peek at the prize package
I don't have a picture of the hexagons as they are not for sale but i can tell you they are awesome for stamping and misting on

THE GIVE AWAY WILL CLOSE ON MAY 8TH AND I WILL POST THE WINNER ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGE SOON AFTER

I love working with mists! I like to use them all of the ways Caz mentioned, and also for coloring plain chipboard and changing the color of paper flowers.

Awesome job on your first post, Caz! Thank you for the tips and fab examples of your misting work! I love misting and usually use it to add random splashes of color to my layouts and alter the color of embellies! I would like to use more masking techniques, though! Thank you for the inspiration! I already like Practical Scrappers and Studio Calico on Facebook and did stop by and leave you some love on the page! Have a great weekend and Happy NSD!

I just bought my first mists last week, and they should arrive tomorrow. So, I don't know what will be my favorite way to use them just yet. But, I like all three uses in the layouts I have seen both here and other places!

What an inspiring post, Caz! I never tried Mr. Huey's mists, and I'd love to try them. Your examples are so beautiful.
I love to splash with my mists and sometimes even make a new dp this way. I still need to try misting with them.

I haven't done a lot of misting, I have given it a few attempts , but ended up with the same result as you. I guess I just wasn't using the right kind! I would love to win this to give it a try, who knows, I just might get hooked on Mr. Huey!

I liked PS on Facebook. I love to lightly mist my background pages to either add some texture or as a mask.
