Ten Things You Can Do With Ribbon

It has been awhile since we visited the topic of things you can do with ribbon.  Today we are back with ten ideas of ways to make this versatile supply work on your paper crafts!

1. Create Garland
It's never too early to get started for next Christmas.  Practical Scrapper Kerri created this 4 and 1/2 foot gingerbreadman theme garland using material scraps and ribbon she got on clearance from all those after holiday sales.  For details some detail shots  and tips on how to create these you can check out her blog.

2. Weave a Background
Pracitcal Scrapper Patty used up some of her scrap ribbon to create this colorful and texture filled background!  Stop by her blog for more close ups of this project!

3. Fill Negative Space
Practical Scrapper Nicole adhered ribbon behind a circle cut on the Silhouette Cameo and turned it into a beautiful card. This is an easy way to use up your scraps!

4.  Make a Bookmark
Practical Scrapper Deborah used some ribbon, needle and thread, one of her daughter's hair ties and a couple of flowers, to create this stretchy bookmark that she saw on Pinterest.

5.  Create your own patterned paper.
Practical Scrapper Kelly Jean cut strips of ribbon and adhered them onto cardstock to create her own colorful background.  She used a large package of American Crafts ribbon and was able to use 10 rolls of ribbon!  This is a great way to use up some of your ribbon stash!

6. Create a Banner!
Practical Scrapper Kim Ryden used scraps of ribbon to create this fun banner on her card today.  This would also be a great element on a scrapbook page!

7. Use it under washi tape to create a solid border
Practical Scrapper Christine created this reverse canvas.  She wanted to keep a border that allowed some wood to show thru but needed to hide the staples on the canvas.  The washi tape alone wouldn't do that but washi tape on top of solid ribbon worked perfectly and made the washi tape less transparent.

8. Add some sunshine!
Practical Scrapper Wendy Coffman used ribbon scraps of various weights to build a halo of sunshine around an embossed yellow cardstock circle, letting the sun shine forth from this sweet, happy card.

9. Weave it through a doily
Practical Scrapper Christine used a piece of ribbon to take a plain white doily to a different level - weaving it thru the spokes.

10. Fray the ends
Practical Scrapper Christine tied a knot but instead of notching or slanting the ends she left them straight and then frayed them, adding a new texture into the layout.

Nine Things You Can Do with Vellum

Vellum has been a staple of papercrafts for a long time.  It's popularity has risen and fallen, but it has never disappeared completely!  As we see it resurging in popularity we thought it was high time to revisit this topic. And who better to do that than our Ten Things Team?

Practical Scrapper Lisa used vellum, a scalloped punch, mists, alcohol inks, and a brad to create this flower on her layout .She also used a My Scraps & More sketch

Practical Scrapper Linda created this layout with a little vellum envelope where a journaling tag is hidden. She decorated the envelope by stamping it with light colors matching the layout. The translation of the title goes: Lovely bluebells belong to the English spring.

Practical Scrapper Leslii Wagner used  the negative from a circle cut out to frame
the faces of her daughter and father-in-law for this fun layout.

Practical Scrapper Deborah Johnson used vellum to create a confetti pouch on this cute New Baby 6" x 6" card.

Practical Scrapper Kelli Fortier used vellum to create this luminary.  A great home decor piece with lots of charm.

Practical Scrapper Jenn Campbell used versamark and pewter embossing powder to create the Dahlia flowers on Vellum.  She used versamark and Melon Mambo embossing powder to create the sentiment.

Practical Scrapper Kelly Jean printed her journaling onto vellum paper then cut to size for her layout.

Practical Scrapper Kristy embossed with white embossing powder onto vellum to create this textured background.

Practical Scrapper Kenya used vellum and distress inks to make this "frosty" non-alcoholic drink.

Thirteen Things You Can Do with Washi Tape

There's almost nothing I love more than washi tape.  It's hard to believe that two years ago it was just barely emerging in the industry.  Always on the lookout for fresh ideas on how to use it, our ten things team is back today with some more ideas for you!

Practical Scrapper Charity used the June sketch for this layout and embossed the camera image on top of washi tape.

Practical Scrapper Charissa used washi tape to create a background square to build her layout on top of.

Practical Scrapper Linda made banners using four different washi tapes.

Practical Scrapper Lee-Anne Thornton made rosettes with washi tape.

Practical Scrapper Karen used washi tape on her beach themed shaker card to seal the edges in order to create a pocket to enclose confetti and couldn’t resist adding a string of mini bunting flags.
Practical Scrapper Wendy used rubber bands to pleat the washi tape ruffles she used to fill the background of this card. You can see a closeup and a tutorial on her blog.

Practical Scrapper Stephanie used washi tape for both the her banners and for her punched flower (over white cardstock).

Practical Scrapper Kelly Jean adhered strips of washi tape on a piece of cardstock and then die cut the word 'truly' for her card.

Practical Scrapper Lisa Peeples covered tiles with bright colored washi tape to make fun coasters for her scrap room. After adhering the different strips of tape to the coasters she used modge podge to seal the tape and make them water resistant.

Practical Scrapper Deborah Johnson used a variety of washi tapes to create these adorable gift tags.  She used stickers, stamps and almost every one of her washi tapes.  Check out her blog for more samples and close up shots.
Practical Scrapper Jennifer Campbell used washi tape and faux washi tape with her new stamp set "Tape It" to add to her This and That Smash book!

Practical Scrapper Brenda Ragsdale used a sheet of 12 x 12 of washi paper and her Cricut to create diecuts to personalize the cover for her IPad!

Practical Scrapper Leslii Wagner used washi tape to cover a chipboard wall hanging.
