Flowers and Twine...So Divine!

Hi Bev here today at Practical Scrappers. I am excited to do my 1st feature

to share with you. Over time I have learned to make many

flowers to add to my pages and here is just another one but

with so much twine available today here is my florals with added twine.

The above photo shows on the left the twine florals that I purchased

and on the right are the florals I made that were inspired by the others.

All different sizes and layers.... added twine and some buttons.

Twine on the bottom, middle, on top or through the buttons..

so many amazing options.

I took it one further on this layout with more integrate punched bases, fun

twine around and through along with the centre french knots on one.

They made a great cluster here with added buttons and bling.

This piece was much larger with single base and twine

and put a metal button on the centre.

On this section is a circle cut with a large centre circle cut out so I

could wind the twine around and around until it filled the full circle.

And this section I am sharing to show the twine flight path and the twine bow

that was tied around the matted piece behind my photo.

Cards Using Masking/Misting

It's Monday ladies and it's time to get down, get busy, and get messy with some misting and masking.  There are lots of fun products out there to play with when it comes to these techniques...masks, screens, templates, inks, paint, sprays; whatever the combination clean up is always interesting.  So, are you one of those scrappers who won't give these techniques because you can't handle the mess?  We have the perfect solution for those of you who cringe at the though of cleaning those shimmer mists and paint off your walls and floors.  Here's what you do...
Step 1:  Get (or make) yourself a box that 14"(length) X 14" (width) X 6" (height)
               * I say 6" because that's what I prefer.  I've found that with misting on cards and layouts this distance allows for a more even spray (if I want splotches I move it closer, and if I want more shimmer than color I move it up higher than the 6").
Step 2:  Lay your paper inside the box and spray or splatter away!

Very simple, easy, controlled mess--there is no clean up (you can just let the over-spray/splatter dry on your box) except to put your box away for the next project.

Now that you don't have an excuse to not give some misting and masking a try, here's some card inspiration to get you started...

Brown is the new black.

At first mention, the color brown may seem boring, but brown is really one of the greatest colors around if you ask me. Just think creamy chocolate, rich coffee, smooth latte...Brown works as a great neutral, holding it's own beside white or black as a base color, without the harshness black can sometimes add to a project. Brown is warm and comforting, natural and calming, and works with just about everything. Think about a light blue and brown color combo, or apple green and brown, bubblegum pink and brown etc.
Have a look at some of these fabulous brown projects, and I'm sure you'll be swayed to add a bit of brown into your next project.

Pretty in Pink!

Can you say Pink-a-licious? Today we are all about the color pink. Now, this post comes with a warning: extreme amounts of the color pink below. If pink is not your thing, then maybe this post isn't for you. But just maybe you are looking to be challenged to use up some of that pink paper you have lying around. There is plenty of pink inspiration to get you to use it up. I think this was our new largest turn out for a call. Hopefully, we all don't turn pink like the little girl in the story "Pinkalicious" by Victoria Kann (LOL...ps...you may want to check the book out if you have a little girl who LOVES pink).

It's raining, it's pouring, all of these projects are not boring! When it rains here, it sure does pour and the projects for this call sure came pouring in. Maybe it was the curse in weather we've been having that has inspired so many rainy projects. Whatever the reason for the inspiration we say, "let it rain!"

With the exception of Christmas, Americans share more cards on Valentine's Day than any other holiday and after seeing all the submissions we received I can see why! The first Valentines date back to the Middle Ages when lovers shared their Valentines by singing them or just saying them. The first paper Valentine dates back to the 1400's and is currently being held the British Museum. Today, we have companies like Hallmark that mass produce Valentines. Just 12 hours here on the East Coast until 2011 rings in. How many of you have set yourself some scrappy resolutions/goals for 2011? I am vowing to finish my Disney album from our trip last Christmas there and to get myself organized! While we all sit back and ponder about what the new year has in store for us, we thought we'd share a few New Years Eve and resolution layouts we received.
