Frugal Finds: Cozy Cotton Projects

Christine, Erin, and I have been bringing you Frugal Find features fora few months now - since we've had so much fun we decided to bring in one of those objects into our anniversary week.  It's a looser interpretation but today we celebrate our 2 year anniversary by sharing a challenge that we presented to all of our designers.  Cotton is often associated with a 2 year wedding anniversary symbolizing that cotton is "cozy" and the couple is comfortable with each other by now.  We thought it'd be fun see what we could do with cotton or cotton based items such as denim, canvas, other fabrics, gauze, and plain old cotton balls.  As you'll see from the examples, our designers are definitely comfy, cozy using cotton...

Practical Scrapper Kerri used "cotton" gauze from her medical kit under her bathroom sink to create her large flower.  She cut the gauze in half, inked with Tim Holtz vintage photo distressing ink, and misted with Sugar Maple Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.

Practical Scrapper Christine created this card using cotton pads.  She cut them into strips and used them to make her border.  She also used some Design Your Own stickers from Momenta on this.

Practical Scrapper Brenda B used gingham fabric as the photo mat and for a bow on this page, and also used some crocheted cotton lace trim.

Designers TWO favorite projects - Happy Anniversary to us!

This week we are celebrating our 2nd Anniversary here at Practical Scrappers!  To kick it off our designers are sharing two of their favorite projects created for Practical Scrappers. One really fun thing to note is that some of these were made when these designers were readers and not yet designers!  I linked up some of them to the original post.  Let the fun begin!

Friday's Anniversary~Create A Project About A "First"

Amanda, created 1st birthday invites and a banner for some a great party!

Alanna decided to make a CAS first birthday card for her sweet niece using some fun papers from DCWV.

For the anniversary challenge this week, Erin Mc. used papers from the Blush collection by Basic Grey, Glimmer Mist, and flowers to create a layout for her first year wedding anniversary.

Jessi made a "first birthday" card for today's Anniversary Challenge. For details on her card, please visit her blog.

Lisa B is celebrating Practical Scrappers anniversary with a layout of her son's FIRST haircut. The paper is from Paper Pizazz and the embellishments are from Jolee's boutique.

We also have the pleasure of one more PS alumni participating this week...

Sarah N. created a layout about her beautiful daughter's first birthday.

Thank you, Sarah for joining us in our celebration this week!

Thursday's Anniversary~Use Just ONE Embellishment (as much as you like)

Erin decided to use stickers as her one embellishment on this layout. She used the majority of 2 sheets of stickers from Doodlebug Designs Inc. to create the scene, as well as letter stickers from Pebbles for the title.

Alanna is celebrating our 1st anniversary with a flower garden with lots of buttons as her flowers, for her one embellishment. She lightly sponged blue ink onto the rest of the card for sky. Her Martha border punch helps ground the card.

Penny used World Traveler Paper Pack papers, Cricut Cartridges Storybook and Home Decor, Nostalgia buttons, Cat Eye Inks and a sentiment from the TV show, "The Wonder Years." to scrap this anniversary picture.

Pia wanted to celebrate the one year anniversary with Practical Scrappers and made a birthday lo of her ds#2 turning 5. Pia used frames as her embellishment. The blue frames are from KI memories "Softies" and the metal frame is from Reprint. To add even more borders and frames she doodled on most of the pp´s to "frame them in".

For anniversary week, Amy used only one embellishment on this layout and that was the witch border on the bottom of the page that she cut out using her Make the Cut software and her cricut.

We have another PS alumni sharing in our celebration today...

Jenny T., used watermelons as her one embellishment. She created such a sweet border using just watermelons.

Thank you, Jenny for joining us for our anniversary this week!

Please link your projects using just one embellishment below.
