Storage Ideas

Today some of our Design Team Members are featuring a few ways they store their crafting supplies.  Take some time to look around, we hope you get a few ideas for your own spaces!

Practical Scrapper Michelle James uses a spice rack to store her brads and flowers. It spins so it is nice to have close by. But, best of all she can pack only the colors needed if going on a weekend crop. It works well and looks pretty too.

Everyone has their own method for storing paper, Practical Scrapper Alison Day would like to share hers with you today.

She was fortunate enough to buy this paper racking off a friend for her 12 x 12 paper storage. On the left side is all her patterned paper sorted by colour.

On the right is all her card stock also sorted by colour. Right at the top of the rack she keeps her 12 x 12 sticker sheets including alphabet stickers.

On the other side of her "scrap cave" is a small book shelf that houses her 8.5 x 11 card stock, envelopes and card bases.

One last storage area is for her paper scraps. She keeps those all together in this drawer. That way she can easily grab scraps as she needs them and hunting through the drawer has led to many an unexpected but highly satisfying layout!

Practical Scrapper Kim Ryden uses Empty Wood-Mount Stamp Cases by Stampin' Up! to keep her Stampin' Up! embellishments organzied! Stop by her blog today to see what else she uses these cases for!

Storage Feature: Embellishments

Hi Practical Scrappers!  I'm Julie and I recently changed some of my embellishments storage and I wanted to share them with you.   It is very important to me to store my stuff in a way that it’s fast and easy to grab everything and put it in my scrapbooking luggage for outside crops.

Glazed Brads

My glazed brads are kept by color on foam sheets.  I added an eyelet in the top left corner and I inserted all the sheets on a big key ring.   Each sheet represent a color, this way, it is very easy to find what I am looking for.

Washi tapes

My washi tapes are separate by color on a key ring and inserted in a very large ring that you can find in any craft store.   It is colorful, beautiful and very convenient.
Pins

For my pins, I used the white foam from Basic Gray Glaze brad packages – yes, I must admit that I love recycle - which I slipped into a small Maya Road suitcase.

Chipboards, gems, Basic Grey bloomers and woolies

Everything is kept into 4X6 flexible min-albums.
Cutting dies

I’m keeping my cutting dies in an accordion file, where I’ve inserted some magnet sheets.

With my new storage, it is now much easier to see what I have and use my stuff on my layouts and cards.

Storage Solutions...

Welcome back to another edition of Storage Solutions here at Practical Scrappers. Today we are going to take a look at how to organize and store all those stickers you have and really don't know what to do with.

First up, I want to show you one way I store themed stickers. I purchased these really inexpensive plastic shoe boxes from the dollar store. I separated my stickers by theme and these little boxes are just perfect for keeping them all together, neat and tidy.

If you have a longer sheet of stickers that will not fit, just simply cut the strip into so you have shorter pieces. This works really well for me.

Next up, I want to share my easy storage of alphabet stickers. Yet again, I purchased a plastic basket at the dollar store, laced a pretty ribbon around it, and attached a tag labeling it as alphas.

This basket includes alphabet stickers and rub-ons. It is easy to sort through when I need alphas and the basket is the perfect size for all of my alpha collection.

In December, we shared a storage idea for cricut cartridges from twinsmoms. Today, we are sharing another great organizing video from her. In this one, she will show you how to organize your stickers in a very easy and quick way.

There you have it, we hope that you have enjoyed this edition of Storage Solutions. Thank you for joining us at Practical Scrappers, practically scrapping in every way!

Storage Solutions......

So Christmas , Hanukah, and Kwanzaa have come and gone for this year. If you are a scrapbooker or paper crafter, I'm sure you had the Cricut Expression or new cartridges on your list. Hopefully, you were not a naughty little one this year and Santa brought all you asked for! If so, you may need to find a way to organize your cartridges. I know personally, I love the idea that Twinsmoms has shared in her two videos. You can get inspiration for your own storage or alter this to fit your own needs.

Check out this super easy way to get your carts organized in a way that doesn't take up lots of space.....

This is her second video. She has revised her process just a bit in this one. For those of us who have children that craft with our cricut, this is such an easy way for them to find exactly what they are looking for. Clean up is a breeze too, with the tabs, the young scrapbooker will know exactly where to put the carts.

If you have ideas on how to organize specific supplies in your scrap space, please email us at practicalsprappersideas@gmail.com be sure to put Storage Solutions in the subject line. I'd love to see ideas for sorting and storing your alphabet stickers, please submit these by January 12, 2011.

Thank you for joining us today at Practical Scrappers, practically scrapping in every way!

Scraps--Storage Solutions...

Hello and welcome back to another edition of Storage Solutions at Practical Scrappers. This week I'm sharing different ways that you, Practical Scrappers, store all those bits of scraps that are just way too wonderful to toss.

Brenda keeps her storage simple. She uses large zip top baggies, one for each color family plus one for multi-colored scraps, and keeps them all in a file organizer she found at Target. She's found that sorting her scraps by color makes it much easier for her to use up her scraps for diecuts or other embellishments.

No Time to Stamp? has found that storing scraps in hanging folders works best for her.

This idea comes to us from Butterfly Fly. Such a cheap way to organize those scraps!!! So hold on to those gift boxes this holiday season. Just imagine, you can even use scraps to decorate the boxes!!!!

Then there is this terrific video I found that is from Joan of Emerald City Elegance.
She does a great job sharing an inexpensive practical way to store those scraps that we just can't part with!

If you have a great way to store, sort, or organize in your scrap room, please send us an email at practicalscrappersideas@gmail.com, we'd love to see your ideas at work! Thanks for joining us today at Practical Scrappers, practically scrapping in every way.

Storage solutions, anyone?

Welcome back to Practical Scrappers, today we have another massively organized scrap room! Can you take just one peek at this and say, "I want one!!!" I know that is how we all feel after seeing these photos. Corinna, one of our lovely designers, has so graciously shared this sneak peek into how she sorts, stores, and organizes things in her crafting space.

This is how Corinna describes her room:
"Here's something my dad made for me to use as hanging storage. It's influenced by something I saw on a blog years ago that was homemade storage. He made me a metal bracket and hanging rod and I installed it on the underside of my shelf. He also made these little hooks that are fed through the metal part of a clothespin for my clips. I used page protectors from Office Depot and cut them in half and use those to store my letter stickers (again, by color), clipping them onto clothespins and letting them hang. That was kind of hard to explain! Does it make sense?"

"Above is my pen/pencils/markers/scissors drawer. I am using a kitchen silverware organizer to store them."

"I only do 8.5x11 pages, so my cardstock will fit in these hanging file folders in one of my drawers. Again, it's sorted by color. I store the scraps of cardstock in the back part of each individual folder. "

"Above is my ribbon storage. I store it by color in my mother-in-laws old mason and ball glass jars. My ribbons and my paints are stored out in the open on shelves because I like to see the rainbows of color! "

"My rainbow row of paints."

"My drawers are sorted by color (influenced by Stacy Julian). Here are a few examples:

pink embellishments,

green embellishments,

and blue embellishments.
I have been picking up mini muffin tins at Goodwill when I can find them and using those to sort out little odds and ends inside the drawers. I also use Tic Tac containers and prescription bottles to store embellishments. I'm always on the lookout at Goodwill for old spice rack jars or just small glass jars to use for that purpose also."

Didn't you feel just like you wanted to jump into those tins of buttons, pour out the paint, play with the ribbons? Fabulous room, Corinna, thank you so kindly for sharing with us today!
If you have photos or videos of how you sort, store, or organize in your room, please email them to us at practicalscrappersideas@gmail.com and post your subject as Organizing Scrap room.
Thank you for joining us again today at Practical Scrappers, practically scrapping in every way!

Let's Get Organized Day 2!!!!

As scrapbookers and paper crafters, we love to collect and in some cases, gasp, "hoard" our supplies! How do you manage to keep it all together and organized? This is our second feature on getting everything organized. Today I'll be sharing some ways that I personally organize things in my scrapbook room. I spent about a week this past summer getting things really organized so I could easily locate what I needed, while keeping things pretty and on a budget.

The photo above shows how I organize many of my rub-ons, stamps, alphabets, punches, etc. My Honeybee built the bottom white shelf for me several years ago. The three white shelves on the top came from Target and were about $15 each. Notice I use many different little bins to store items in.
