Birthday Inspiration

Today is my son's first birthday!  So as I prepared the schedule for this month, I had to make today a birthday inspiration day!  We've got a diverse set of layouts today to highlight all the fun of birthdays!

Practical Scrapper Christine created this layout with her favorite pictures from her daughter's birthday party and then created a life project style spread to cover all the highlights and fun!

Practical Scrapper Wendi Robinson used the Crate birthday line for this page of her lil one on her first birthday

Practical Scrapper Mary Pat used Imaginisce

Practical Scrapper Krissy used an old Bella Blvd for her daughters 2md Birthday!

Practical Scrapper Cathy used a Heidi Swapp folder to add even more photos of Addie's special day to this layout.

Practical Srappers Julie used colorful papers from Simple Stories.

Practical Scrapper Malika used Chic Tags birthday line for her layout.

Im-Practically Scrapping

Pssst!  Practical Scrapper Krissy Clark McKee here with a secret to tell you.  You have to promise not to tell anyone, okay?

You know how we all talk about how wonderful scrapbooking is because it's a good way to preserve memories and our families' stories, right?  And, of course, you know about all the wonderful sites and books out there that have fantastic journaling prompts.  We are Project Life-ing and Smash Book-ing and She Art-ing, and those things are awesome!  After all, that is what scrapbooking is all about - we make memories.  We preserve stories.  We create a record of our thoughts and emotions.

Well...come a little closer because I can't say this too loudly...sometimes, every once in awhile, I make a layout simply because... I want to play with pretty papers and a pretty picture. That's right, that's the only thing I want to do - there is no story to tell!!!  Sometimes, it makes me happy simply to play with and coordinate the different colors and patterns of my papers and embellishments.  That's it!  Finding a pretty picture of my pretty girl wearing a pretty smile makes ME smile.  Sometimes you don't need to tell a story.  Sometimes it's enough to just enjoy what you are doing.  Sometimes THAT is the story.

So, yes, continue to chronicle your family's lives.  Continue to journal.  But don't get weighed down by it all, and don't feel guilty if you have nothing to say.  If you want to create something for no reason other than it makes you happy - well, I thnk that is just as important!

Have a happy, crafty weekend - whether you are practically or im-practically scrapping!

Practical Scrapper Krissy Clark McKee transformed old, large journaling cards that had been sitting in her craft closet for three years into a vacation mini-album.

Practical Scrapper Alison used 4 old sports photo sleeves - you know, the kind you get with every organized sport your kid is in - to make this cute pocket album. There's tons of room for photos and journaling on the pages and the hidden tags too.

Practical Scrapper Jennifer used the new Clear Scraps Build It Your Way Binder and Teresa Collins' Tell Your Story collection.
