At The Pumpkin Patch!

Hi Fellow Scrappers!

I have to admit, I enjoy this time of year! I love summer, but it is something about the leaves changing colors and  the crispness in the air. My family and I drive to the country to see the vivid colors of the leaves. We also have made it a tradition to visit the pumpkin farm each year.  There is nothing sweeter than seeing my little girls running through the patch looking for that perfect pumpkin! The only rule is, they can only take a pumpkin they can carry (although that doesn't always happen).

For today's project, I am sharing one of our trips to the Family Farm! I was able to capture each one of them looking, feeling and lifting the pumpkins to make sure it was "the one". I am looking forward to our trip this year!

We have visited different pumpkin farms over the years, but this trip was the best and most memorable to date! They not only have pumpkins and hay rides, but a full operational farm! The girls really loved seeing all of the animals. Stay tuned for more projects LOL.  I loved being able to hang out with my family. What is your fall family tradition?

I hope you enjoyed today's project. Come back tomorrow to check out more awesome projects! Kenya~

Textures, Layers and Pumpkins....OH MY!!

Hey all!  Practical Scrapper Laura here!

Today I'm sharing one of the things I absolutely love about scrapbooking,
the ability to make it all your own!  If you want clean and simple, you can
do it.  If you want one pic on a page, you can do it.  If you like the collage
effect....go for it....lol.

For me....I LOVE texture....the mixing of different shapes, depths and layers
in scrapbooking.  This LO is an example of what I mean:

This LO was done using the new Steampunk Spells by Graphic 45.
The layering was done starting with a plain black cardstock base.
Then 2 pieces of patterned paper add texture just by the mix of patterns....
and notice how the brighter pattern is under the pics to draw your eye there.
The embellishment cluster is focused around the pics for the same reason....
and it's layered in there using the G45 chipboard, the clock is foam taped to
give it even more depth as you see in this close up pic:

A burlap flower from Maya Rd., paper flowers from Kaisercraft, and
Trendy Twine also add texture (and PS....a great looks is to sand the
edges of your pics to make them "pop" as you can see in this close up):

The edge of the page blends into the LO without taking away from the pics
that are the star of the show, but still continues that texture.....I used the
journal cards from the G45 Steampunk Spells, did some distressing and
inking to add a little interest and depth, also used foam tape to pop up the
Steampunk Spells card. And a subtle strip of bling along the edge using
Darice glitter tape is the final touch.

Are you inspired to mix it up and experiment with different textures on your
next LO or project?  Give it a try.....it's an awesome way to enhance a LO!

And today I have to add.....I've got a little giveaway on my blog for a great
cause that a bunch of scrappers are working with.....thanks to Scrapbook
Expo....you can find it HERE.

Thanks for stopping today!!
Be inspired, and go create your own beautiful today!

Mini Albums

We got the message - y'all want to see more altered projects.  So without further adieu here's a feature on mini albums created by our designers and reader submissions.  We're adding at least one altered project feature to our monthly line-up so if you create something fabulous that you want to share we'd love to see it!  For each album we're going to show a picture or two, definitely follow the links to check out the rest of the album.  Instead of just linking you to their blog, if it was possible I linked you directly to the album post.

Practical scrapper Christine created this football album with pictures about her little boy and his special football moments.  She spread the links out over two days you can find the second link here.

Practical Scrapper Kerri created this paper bag mini album using Crate Paper's Snow Day Collection.  For more pictures of the pages check out her blog.

Check out the entire album on Practical Scrapper Sandi's blog

Kristie created this color/shape/number book

Amanda created this teacup album using her silhouette and embellishments from American Crafts & Pebbles.

Kristie created this using toilet paper tubes!

Monica created this "Daddy" album along with a video reading of it available here.

Kristie also created this masculine envelope album - if you click on her name you'll find she has several other album ideas in this post.

Posting a few pictures of this New York album won't do it justice - you really need to check out the post Monica created on it.  She also has a video tour of it!
