Pinterest-ing!! ;)

Hello friends!!

Jenny here today, and I have a question for you....are you addicted to:
 ????

Well, I am!!!

From food to clothes to crafty things...I find myself there almost every day!

While making a new board, CHA favorites and trends, I came across a photo of a wedding cake. It was just too gorgeous and too full of inspiration not to pin!

Here is the image:
 (Pin)

Gorgeous, huh?! I fell in love with the chevrons, and the overall style of this cake.

It was screaming, "Make a layout based on me!!!", lol, so I did ;)
I added chevrons across the layout, did the large cluster above them, and added the bands to the top and bottom of my layout.

I did some layering and added some foam adhesive, but kept it minimal as the chevrons are the focus of the design element of the layout.

I absolutely love how this turned out, and have a feeling that I may have a new board soon that is strictly photo inspiration for layouts! ;)

Thanks for stopping by Practical Scrappers!!
 Have a wonderful day!! :)

Black matting and distressing...

 Hello everyone!!

Jenny here today to share a layout I made using a few of my favorite techniques. I think everyone knows that I love to mat in black...alot. :)  It is a trend that I am completely loving, and you will find it on a lot of my layouts.

Here are a few links to some of my most recent layouts with this technique...

Well, something else that I have been loving lately is distressing! Love the look it gives! (A few links, lol...Innocence and Magical Day). So, I have been playing with mixing the distressing and matting in black. It does take some time, but I love the end result! Here is a layout I made using both:

I love the pop the black gives the layout, but also love the distressing...it makes it feel not so super straight lined and clean. I have also added a few of my fave embellies: twine and pearls! :)

(*Note- I mat all my layouts with a smooth solid black cardstock, and distress using my trusty TH distresser.)

If you are not so keen on the all black matting, you could always pick just a few base pieces to mat, and leave everything else un-matted. That is a fabulous look as well. :)

You can head to my blog HERE to see more layouts with the above techniques. If you love to mat in black or distress, I encourage you to give this a try!! It makes for a bold, beautiful layout!!

Thanks so much for stopping by Practical Scrappers!! Have a wonderful day!! :)

Baby Layouts

Whether your layouts are made of "sugar and spice and everything nice" or "snips and snails and puppy dog tails", one thing is for sure...those pages of your little bundles of joy are some of the most fulfilling scrapbooking pages you will ever complete.  My children's baby albums were three of the first albums I ever started as a scrapbooker, but they are yet to be complete (I need to get a move on since my children are now 12, 7, and 5).  Why is that you ask?  Because I create so many baby layouts with the same photos that I never get any further.  At the rate I'm scrapping my kids baby albums, I may be lucky to finish them by the time they graduate from college.  After seeing all this baby inspiration it may even take me a little longer ...
