Cards Featuring Embossing Folders

We shared with you on Saturday some unique ways to use your Cuttlebug, but now I'd like to share with you my favorite reason for using my Cuttlebug--embossing.

Today, I have the pleasure of sharing with you some fabulous cards using embossing folders by our design team members. Let's get right to it!

Penny chose a mono-chromatic theme and lots of Cuttlebug embossing to create this card. The base layer of the card is embossed with the Cuttlebug folder Paisley, the three panels are embossed in Swiss Dots and the letters are embossed with Paisley again. The outside of the card is dusted with a matching blue chalk. A silver baby rattle is tied by a coordinating blue ribbon. The interior sentiment says joy an is embossed in the same manner. Cricut Cartriges used are George and Winter Woodlands, Papers are also Cricut papers.

Deanne used her Spots and Dots embossing folder to emboss the bottom portion of her card.

Brenda used the Perfectly Paisley Cuttlebug folder to emboss the background on this card, and the Houndstooth Cuttlebug folder to emboss the die cut images on this card.

Kim used her baby embossing folder and some baby pink ink to create this baby girl card. She simply inked the inside of the folder before she embossed the cardstock. She loves the look the paper gets from this technique. Then she finished the card off with a cute ribbon and charm.

Kerri
Here are three of my favorite cards where I've used embossing folders.I tried give you all a little variety ranging from embossing everything on the card (base, layers, and embellies), embossing pattern papers, to embossing the matting to add some dimension and elegance.

Hope you all enjoyed the embossing inspiration! Now that you are all inspired by the embossing, it's time to take that spark and start your own embossing creations, but with layouts. We are currently seeking submissions for layouts that using embossing on them. The deadline to submit is Sunday, November 21, 2010.

I Am Thankful For...

It's that time of year to celebrate our harvest, express gratitude and appreciate to our friends/family, eat turkey, and watch some football. No matter what your reason for celebrating Thanksgiving we are all truly blessed and should be thankful for people we have in our lives, the material possessions, and the harvest that we are able to share with others. This month's challenge is to create a project about "What I Am Thankful For...". Use it as a title, journaling, or even inspiration to create a project.

Here are some of our design team examples:

Penny tells us, "These are my holiday table place setters. They each hold a little thank you charm, some wheat straw a pumpkin and Mr. Turkey being the guest of honor does deserve a thank you. Everyone one gets one kids with a box and a flower or an Indian, Cricut makes it easy. Each item was cut at its regular size 3 inches and then matched with a bag or a box to attach to the back filled with plastic forks for the little tables, tags that say whose is whose, a few pieces of candy/nuts to hold them over until it's time to eat, and a little puppet playing of the gift of Thanksgiving-- after all the parents are stuffed."

Kim is most thankful for her little kids, Ashlea and Jon-Christopher. She altered a simple inexpensive 5 X 7 wooden frame for this project. She measured and cut strips of Wild Saffron paper to cover the frame, added some matching embellishments, inked up her chipboard letters, then finished off with a bit of bling and ribbon. To get the ghosted photo, she set her printer to fast draft and printed on a sheet of bamboo cardstock.

Kerri is thankful for all the good things in life, the smiles on her children's faces, love, laughter, and youth.

Hope you have some "thankful" inspiration to go off and create your own project now. Please send a link (or a photo 200K or less please) to your projects at practicalscrapperslayouts@gmail.com with "I Am Thankful For..." in the subject line. Submissions are due on November 22nd, 2010.

Thursday's White Pen Projects...

Erin used her white Uniball signo to customize the pleated ribbon border by Pink Paislee.
She waited for the ink to dry before going over the letters a few times to get a more opaque effect. You can also see she used her white pen as an "eyebrow pencil" if you check out the title letters carefully!

For the white pen challenge this week, Amy used her white pen for doodling on this layout. She also used it for some shadowing on the boots.

Penny used Robyn' s Fetish Angie Angel digi-stamp for her central image. Angie has become the angel of poinsettia's in this picture. Penny used Cricut papers, the Cricut holly leaves embossing folder, punches for the leaves and the flowers. Martha Stewart color pencils, signo gel white pen, stickles and a Stampin' Up star button to create her project.

Pia used a Signo White uniball pen to draw this guitar birthday card on a black cardstock.
