Using Ribbon on Cards

This week at Practical Scrappers we are zoning in on ribbon.  It's a topic we visit regularly because we know everyone has it in their stash (and probably more than we can ever possibly use!).  You can find even more ribbon ideas under our Idea Central tab, where we've archived many of our old features on ribbon.  Today we kick things off with cards made by our designers.

Thursday's White Pen Projects...

Erin used her white Uniball signo to customize the pleated ribbon border by Pink Paislee.
She waited for the ink to dry before going over the letters a few times to get a more opaque effect. You can also see she used her white pen as an "eyebrow pencil" if you check out the title letters carefully!

For the white pen challenge this week, Amy used her white pen for doodling on this layout. She also used it for some shadowing on the boots.

Penny used Robyn' s Fetish Angie Angel digi-stamp for her central image. Angie has become the angel of poinsettia's in this picture. Penny used Cricut papers, the Cricut holly leaves embossing folder, punches for the leaves and the flowers. Martha Stewart color pencils, signo gel white pen, stickles and a Stampin' Up star button to create her project.

Pia used a Signo White uniball pen to draw this guitar birthday card on a black cardstock.

Thursday's Glitter/Bling Projects

Erin used Glimmer mist on the black cardstock, and on the patterned paper to distress it. She used gold embossing powder to make the key and heart shapes, filling the heart with brads and various gems. Stickles, pearls, brads and trinkets are her treasure (and a few foil wrappers from some chocolate covered coins:).

Amy H's neat technique always creates clean results – and it’s super simple. Just adhere double stick tape to your card/layout and generously sprinkle with glitter!

Catherine went for something bright and springy to help with the winter blaws. She employed glitter cardstock for the background and stamped her image onto transpancy using stazon ink. That image is colored in with Stickles. This was all done on the backside of the image so when the card is put together it is nice and smooth. Plastic beads (skittles) in the bottom corner tie it all together.

Jennifer used glitter and rhinestones to create her layout's whimsical feel.

Robin used her Zing Silver embossing powder on the chipboard letters to create some GLAM!

Acrylic Paint Cards

If Kim's card doesn't inspire, I don't know what will!! Someone commented that paints are intimidating and I will agree. But they can also be very liberating! They require you to throw a little caution in the wind, and just go with it. They are fun, and as you can see, they can produce some beautiful cards. How fun would it be for someone to receive a painted card you made?! I think that's called ART.

If in the past you've made a card or LO using paint, and you love it, post it on Mr. Linky along with the new stuff gals are sharing too. We would love to see what you've created that might help us to dig into these paints that have been sitting here for way too long!
