Documenting You

Hello and happy Friday!    How many of you scrapbook about yourself? I know I am guilty of not documenting about myself enough.  So, I created a layout telling random facts about myself.  I used My Mind's Eye's new collection Cut and Paste.

 

 

 

 

I used my typewriter for my journaling then added small embellishments such as paint splatter, enamel dots, brads, and wooden veneer shapes.

 

 

I used one of the coordinating Cut and Paste cardstock stickers to place my title.  I wanted to use a variety of letters, as well.

 

 

 

So, this weekend I challenge you to create a layout all about yourself!

On Trend- Wood "Veneer"

Wood grain has been hot lately in everything!  We see it in patterned paper, washi tape, stamps, embossing folders, stencils and more. It shouldn't come as a surprise then that actual wood pieces are a popular embellishment for layouts, cards and altered items. Treat these embellishments much like you would chipboard. Leave them "au naturel", stain, ink, varnish, spray or even cover them with stickers or patterned paper. The option of seeing the wood grain is really the best part though.
 If you're craving the look of wood on your project, but don't want to break the bank, try popsicle sticks or wood shapes sold in craft packs at your local hobby store.  I bet you could also cut custom shapes into lightweight balsa with steel rule dies.

used the wood veneer hexagons by Studio Calico. The small ones in the borders are misted. The hexagons randomly placed over the layout are covered with the matching accent stickers.

altered transportation shapes from Studio Calico.  She misted them to give them color and placed as embellishments in the hexagon shapes.

stained some mustache shapes by Studio Calico with Distress Stain, and used Helmar Premium Craft Glue to keep them firmly in place.
